We’re delighted to present the 2026 Mount Washington Valley Storytelling Festival, taking place September 16th through 20th.
Last year marked the very first Festival—and it was a tremendous success, drawing more than 250 participants from across the Valley and beyond. Storytellers inspired us, audiences leaned in with curiosity and warmth, and a wonderful sense of connection filled the room. It was clear from the start: this Festival is something special.
That spirit continues this year with a full schedule of events and opportunities to experience the power of story. Highlights include a special performance by Bill Harley of An Iliad, storytellers appearing at locations throughout the Valley, engaging workshops, a Family Show, and Friday and Saturday evening performances at the Whitney Community Center.
In a time when genuine connection can feel rare, storytelling offers something essential. Stories help us understand one another, spark imagination, and strengthen the bonds that make our community vibrant and resilient. Whether you’re here to listen, share, or simply be part of the experience, you are helping carry that tradition forward.
As we gather again, we build on what we learned and loved from our first year—growing, refining, and deepening the Festival while holding onto its heart.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for listening. And thank you for helping make storytelling a living, shared experience in the Mount Washington Valley.
With gratitude,
The Whitney Community Center Team

Voice and Sound for Storytelling with Antonio Rocha
Explore the five voice resonators—chest, throat, mouth, nose, and head—to create distinct character voices and engaging sound effects. This workshop helps storytellers add clarity, variety, and flow to their narratives, enhancing scenes, transitions, and atmosphere while keeping their own authentic voice at the heart of the story.
